One option for summer is an internship and if you need help it is not too late to go see career services.

Linda Moore, director of career services, said students who are looking for an internship should start by identifying employers that can offer them the experience they want.

Freshmen year is finally over

The year is almost over and the freshman will be sophomores. It has been a life changing experience for most of them, now they reflect on their first year.

Freshman year always seems so scary for most people, moving out of your house, making new friends, the whole learning experience is a cultural shock from what most incoming freshman are used to.

Website gets students to rate their professors

Ratemyprofessors.com boasts over 6,000 different schools with over 1 million professors on their website. While I didn't check every school and professor to verify that bit of information, I'll trust the site, because Ratemyprofessors.com has over 840 professor listing at Eastern Illinois University alone, which is more professors than I even knew worked at EIU.

Thrice in review

Six months ago Thrice released the first half of their experimental concept album called "The Alchemy Index."

Volumes I and II of the Alchemy Index, Fire and Water, came out on October 16, 2007.

Each disc of this project is representative of the element of the Earth.

Professor brings in cartoon for explanation

Going to my EIU debut day in the summer of 2007 was a bit scary. This was the day when you get to make your schedule. I will admit that I got a little nervous because I had no idea what professors would be good. I asked the debut day leader for help and of coarse they can't help you.

I have not been at EIU very long so I have not had too many teachers yet. However, one that has really stood out to me is my Social Problems teacher Lisa New Freeland.

Every Monday, our class plays a "game" concerning our lesson for the week. We have played card games, became world leaders and solved problems in society during the games.

The end of a busy semester

It's been a short semester. I can not believe it is almost over.

It has been a very interesting and exciting semester. I have met amazing people in and out of the classroom and it has made me a better student and person.

The past semester I have really focused on student publications and grades and sometimes I wish I could have been less busy, but if that would of happened I would not have received the amazing opportunities I have received in the past semester.
