Working hard at Dairy Queen

Working at a fast food restaurant is not my idea of a fun time. For a year, I have worked the night shift at a local Dairy Queen in my hometown.
It is a stressful, fast-paced job where you have three minutes to get out an order through the drive. If the three minutes is up and the customer is still waiting, someone is going to be yelled at by either a customer or a boss.
Sometimes it cannot be helped and the customer will still complain. It is always your fault. All I could do was politely apologize and tell them to have a nice night.
At Dairy Queen, we might make fifty Blizzards a night. It would get so busy that we would not have time to clean up spilt candy or ice cream until close.
The mess would pile up and get sticky and it became extremely hard to clean up. It was rather disgusting. After we closed, I would have to clean up that mess. Sometimes I would not get out of there for two hours after we closed.
Many times, they would schedule only a few people to clean up afterwards which made time even worse. The next morning when the next shift came, they would complain that we did not clean well enough. However, they would not clean anything.
Not only was night shift forced to clean up our mess, but also we would have to clean up the mess from the entire day. This caused a fight between the two shifts. We began to hate each other and hate working there in general.
Even though the job is rough, any customer that comes in gets good service. We do anything to make a customer happy. I have also met some of my closest friends there.
When I left to attend school at EIU, I was given hugs from everyone and my manager said that he would do anything to help me if I needed it. I guess it was not all bad after all.
