Trent Reznor is a pirate. Or, at least, he admimts to being one. Word frorm ZeroPaid is that Reznor admitted to using OiNK to download music illegally.

Now, it's probably no secret that people download music every day. But Reznor also recently came out against his own former record company for -- get this -- charging customers in Austrailia upwards of $30 for "Year Zero," Nine Inch Nails' most recent release. "No wonder people steal music," Reznor ranted on Nine Inch Nails

So Reznor has ditched his record company, and is helping distribute music directly to the fans.

His latest work involved helping friend Saul Williams produce his latest album. The fruit of their efforts is an album called "The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust!," with an obvious nod to David Bowie.

Reznor and Williams are employing the "You Choose" method of downloading this album that Radiohead used for their album "In Rainbows."

The technique has been called groundbreaking by some, and foolish by others. Users can download the album at NiggyTardust.com , and choose to pay $0, which provides a 192kbps download of the album.

Alternatively, users can pay $5 to support the artist(s), and have a choice of a 192kbps download, a 320kbps download, or a brilliant-quality FLAC download, with lossless audio that you would find on a CD.

I opted for the FLAC download, and have yet to listen to it, but can rest assured that it will be worth my $5, conveniently taken from my PayPal account.
