Online Reporter spent her Thanksgiving break helping tornado ravaged Greensburg, KS rebuild and recalls her mission trip in four blogs. This is the fourth of four.
This morning we got another wake up call to a beautiful morning with the sun shining in our rooms. We were ready to work until our projects were complete.
Now that the Santa House is completed, we are focusing on the volunteer house. Half of the group went to finish the roof of the first house and the other went to paint. I went back to the volunteer home where I painted the back of the house; however, I did not get on the roof considering I am afraid of heights.
At approximately 10 a.m. the weather was changing and getting colder. Members of the group had to take brakes to get in the sun for warmth. The forecast said it was going to snow the next day, but we were not as prepared as we should have been.
By noon we finished the painting job on the house and decided to leave for home a half day early. We packed up and headed to the bus for another 12-hour drive back home.
It was an amazing experience, because whether it is a small project or a big project to work on in the town of Greensburg, we helped rebuild part of their town.
I look forward to coming back here and helping the families and residents here to rebuild and grow. To learn more about volunteering in Greensburg Kansas visit SCKTRO.org.
